From April 19, tourists can again travel to a holiday destination on the Baltic Sea - as part of a model project.
Further openings are planned.
Last Friday (April 9), Tourism Minister Bernd Buchholz (FDP) announced that in April and May four regions on the North Sea and Baltic Sea would open to holidaymakers as part of model projects - including the inner Bay of Lübeck, the resort of Büsum and the Schlei -Region with Eckernförde and the district of North Friesland with the island of Sylt.
Two of these projects have now been postponed, but one is proceeding as planned.

. “The number of bookings is now skyrocketing,” said Stefan Borgmann, the tourism manager of the Baltic Sea resort, according to NDR. In addition to the accommodation providers that belong to the urban area of Eckernförde, camping sites are also allowed to open again. "A sensible corona concept" is important. The model project is scheduled to run from April 19 to May 15.
An extension is also possible

Baltic holiday: Bay of Lübeck postpones opening for tourists by around a week
Restaurants, holiday apartments and leisure facilities in the Bay of Lübeck are
now only
supposed
to open on April 26
, instead of April 19 as originally planned.
Hotels then only let in guests from May 3rd - these should actually open on April 26th, as reported by the

“The opening should run properly, we don't want to break it over our knees,” Timmendorfer tourism director Joachim Nitz told the newspaper.

The opening on April 26 was initially set with reservations.
A decision should therefore be made on April 20th.

The decision was made in consultation with the health department and the Lübecker Bucht tourism agency.
Vacation on the North Sea: Büsum is now expected to open in May
The Büsum model region is also postponing openings in tourism. The background to this is an increasing incidence in the Dithmarschen district.
Now the model project should start on May 10th at the earliest
, as Büsum's mayor Hans-Jürgen Lütje (FWB) announced according to an NDR report: “It is no good for anyone if we open now and then after one, two, three or five days have to close again. “Ultimately, that is bad for the restaurants, hoteliers and guests - as well as for the image of the region. The decision was made in consultation with the Ministry of Tourism and the Dithmarschen District Health Office. According to the German press agency, Olaf Raffel, managing director of the Büsum municipality, said: "It would be fatal to open now and have to close the bulkheads again shortly."

Sylt wants to welcome tourists again from May
For the district of North Friesland with the holiday island of Sylt, an opening was planned a little later from the start - planned for May 1st.
