After Kwun Tong District Councillor Li Ka-tat was confirmed to have resigned as a District Councillor yesterday, Tan Kaibang, who has withdrawn from the New Democratic League, announced today (20th) that he had resigned from his post as a District Councillor through a Facebook page, saying that he has been unable to receive information since his arrest. It was also unable to directly meet the citizens seeking assistance, and was unable to serve the residents personally, so he decided to resign.

In addition, Yuan Haolun, a member of the Qinghe District of the North District Council, also said today that he has resigned.

He explained that if the oath is taken, it is equivalent to agreeing with the government's practice of requiring district councilors to take an oath. Therefore, the decision will not be taken, and his resignation will take effect on June 1.

Tan Kaibang wrote on his Facebook article that he was associated with Ma Wan because of the third runway at the airport. He started to establish an environmental group concerned about aircraft noise issues to oppose the third runway at the airport, and later served as a Mawan District Council Member since 2016. Until now, I would like to thank the residents of Ma Wan and Tsuen Wan for their support and colleagues.

Tan Kaibang pointed out that he believes that no matter what position he is in, he can still contribute to environmental protection, be responsible for the environment, and repay the grace of society and the earth's nurturing.

Before the election, Qinghe District Councillor Yuan Haolun said that the anti-regulation movement made him decide to serve the community, hoping to improve the system by entering the parliament.

Yuan Haolun also announced his resignation on the facebook page.

He pointed out that he had submitted a letter of resignation to the Home Affairs Department last Friday (16th). The effective date is June 1, 2021. Therefore, his last day as a member of Parliament is the 31st of next month.

He explained that the reason for his resignation was that the government "made Yokote" to add some requirements, and he believed that if he participated in the oath, he would agree with the relevant practices.
