Cozy places by the lake invite you to linger - but sometimes vandalism and disturbances also occur there.

Where the anger got out of hand, the municipalities at Tegernsee have already implemented alcohol bans in recent summers.

Such is now also being discussed for Seeglas.

Gmund / Tegernseer Tal - The lake promenade in Bad Wiessee, the health resort in Rottach-Egern and also the shore at Seeglas are places where there was frequent trouble in the past due to noise, rioting young people or property damage.

Usually there is a lot of alcohol involved.

“In the area of the pavilion there have been border crossings time and again,” reports Gmunds Mayor Alfons Besel (FWG) about the situation in Seeglas.

Heavenly beds landed in the lake, building yard employees had to clear up rubbish and vomit.

That is maybe five percent of the visitors, says Besel.

But they would now require intervention.

Alcohol ban on the shore at Seeglas: the municipality is planning a moderate proposal

At the next municipal council meeting on Tuesday, April 27th, the committee will therefore discuss the adoption of a statute on the use of the public lakeside facility Seeglas.

A ban on alcohol will also be part of it.

"We will make a moderate proposal for this," says Besel.

In order to be able to issue such an ordinance at all without authorization, Gmund had recently endeavored to transfer the stretch of shore in Seeglas from the sovereign territory of the city of Tegernsee to the responsibility of the municipality of Gmund.

This process has now been completed, Seeglas - already part of Gmund for most of them - is now officially part of the northernmost valley community.

The municipal council ultimately decides whether and in what form there will be a ban on alcohol in sea glass.

“We're still in the opinion-forming process,” says Besel.

After all, you don't want to meet all the visitors who are enjoying the evening here and want to treat themselves to a beer or a glass of wine.

It is about special groups that would overshoot the mark.

"We're still struggling to choose the wording," explains Besel.

Alcohol ban on sea glass: Police would welcome regulation

The Bad Wiessee police would definitely welcome such a ban. “That makes sense,” explains Inspection Manager Thomas Heinrich when asked. If there is a regulation, the police can act better in the event of violations, issue dismissals and also report reports. “It then hurts at some point,” says Heinrich. Especially in Seeglas there were regular missions last summer because of disturbances or damage to property. The corona crisis intensifies this development.

The mayor of Wiesse, Robert Kühn (SPD), took immediate action last summer. After groups of party people had caused noise, rubbish and damage on the lake promenade, he issued a nocturnal alcohol ban for the area on his own - later the ordinance was officially confirmed by the local council. The ban was in effect from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and was limited to October 31. In addition, a security service was deployed. It is still unclear whether Bad Wiessee will use the measure this year as well. "I am not a fan of throwing the rod over it," says Mayor Kühn. The city hall boss announces that the situation will initially be observed in the summer. It might be enough to have the security service patrol and one could refrain from a ban.In principle, nobody has anything against the young people meeting here - it just has to be done without rubbish, noise and damage.
