Carabinieri of the provincial command of Catania are carrying out a precautionary measure in prison issued by the investigating judge against 14 people under investigation, for various reasons, for complicity in double homicide, six attempted murders and carrying and illegal possession of firearms in a public place.
All the DDA denies the aggravating circumstance of having acted for abject reasons and making use of the conditions provided for by the mafia-type association, in order to facilitate the clans to which they belong.
At the center of the investigation was the shooting on 8 August 2020 when affiliates and top members of the mafia clans of the 'Milanese Cursoti' and the Cappello, on at least 14 motor vehicles, collided in the streets of the Librino district. The toll of the armed clash was two dead and several wounded. "An outcome that - underlines the Dda of the Public Prosecutor of Catania - could have been much more harmful if we consider that the firefight took place in the evening in the populous Librino district, characterized by a high population density and where residents, including women and children , especially due to the summer heat, they usually stay on the street until late ".
