The members of the Syrian community in Sweden called on European countries to lift the unjust and coercive economic measures they impose on the Syrian people and to reconsider their policies towards Syria, including the restoration of diplomatic relations with it.
In a letter they sent to the Swedish Parliament, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, various Swedish parties, the European Union representation in Stockholm, a number of Swedish representatives in the European Parliament, and humanitarian organizations and churches in Sweden and Europe, the Syrian people said today that the Syrian people are facing a humanitarian catastrophe that threatens the lives of millions of their children who are under siege. Stifling economic, terrorist war and illegal foreign interventions, in addition to the outbreak of the Corona epidemic, which health authorities find it difficult to address due to the blockade, preventing the import of necessary vaccines, and preventing Syrian banks from financing the import of foodstuffs and medical tools.
The members of the community in Sweden pointed out that the continued economic siege on Syria and the coercive measures in violation of international law increase the difficulties for the Syrian people, who have been suffering the scourge of the terrorist war that has been going on for more than ten years, pointing out that these measures and the siege have stifled the economic life cycle in Syria, and the aim of that is. Confiscating the independent Syrian decision and denying the Syrians their natural right to security, stability and prosperity.
The members of the community explained in their message that the economic blockade affected Syria's ability to repair the damage caused by the terrorists to electric power production stations and water pumping stations, so that the wheel of agricultural and industrial production in areas deprived of electricity and water supplies by the occupiers and terrorists, as well as Syria lost most of the oil and gas resources that are being systematically looted. The members of the community in Sweden emphasized that the humanitarian catastrophe that is increasing in severity in Syria requires the European countries to immediately and unconditionally lift the economic blockade and all unilateral measures imposed on Syria and allow the flow of medical materials and equipment specifically without any hindrances, calling on the European Union countries to reconsider their policies. Towards Syria, including restoring diplomatic relations with it and cooperating with it in the war against terrorism
that threatens Europe itself.
The members of the community called for the withdrawal of the occupying American and Turkish forces from all Syrian lands and for the two occupations to stop the plundering of Syrian wealth of oil, grains and antiquities, stressing the importance of respecting the choices of the Syrian people in determining their future and not interfering in the internal affairs of Syria and in the upcoming presidential elections.
