The State will finance the renovation of the hospitals of Dinan, Saint-Malo and Cancale, as well as the construction of a fourth site, to the tune of 100 million euros, announced Tuesday the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran.

This 400 million euro project was approved in early February by the Brittany Regional Health Agency (ARS). Less than three months later, the ministry therefore committed to funding a quarter of this amount. The site, "
whose inhabitants will see the realization project after project over the next few years, will be completed by 2027
", said Olivier Véran in an interview with the regional daily Le Télégramme.
The objective is to "
review the offer of care in the territory, so as to have a good complementarity
" between hospitals which currently offer "
the same activities
" without always having sufficient staff, explained his office to the AFP. The operating theaters and the maternity ward will thus be transferred to a new building - the location of which will be chosen “
this summer
” - in order to “
bring together critical resources
”, in particular anesthetists.
The Dinan site (Côtes-d'Armor) will retain its emergencies and medical services, while that of Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine) will be "
converted into a city medicine center
", with liberal practitioners. No elimination of posts or beds is required in return, assures the ministry, which provides on the contrary between 120 and 150 additional beds in follow-up care and rehabilitation.
The participation of the State is part of the investment plan of the "
Ségur de la Santé
", of which the government has listed the winners for a few weeks, sometimes with extensions to old files already validated (Nantes, Nancy, Tours , Caen, Reims), sometimes with new projects (Cosne-sur-Loire, Bordeaux). The Argenteuil hospital (Val-d'Oise) is next on the list, which should continue to grow at a slower pace by the summer, with perhaps other announcements in Angers, Blois and Dreux.
