The members of the Syrian community in Chile demanded the lifting of the unjust and coercive economic measures imposed by European countries on the Syrian people and targeting them for their livelihood, basic needs and various aspects of their lives.
The members of the community said in a message they sent to the European Union representative in Santiago that the Syrian people were exposed for more than ten years to a terrorist war that resulted in tragedies and destruction that included all walks of life, and despite this, a number of European countries imposed economic sanctions on them in violation of international law, demanding immediate action. To end this blockade and sanctions, and the European countries will not take decisions affecting the lives of the Syrian people, who firmly uphold their right to a decent life in their homeland.
The Chilean community explained that the economic blockade imposed on Syria has caused the suffering of millions of its people and affected all aspects of life there, especially in the field of health, especially the response to the Corona epidemic, pointing out that in light of this unfair situation it was extremely difficult to obtain medical and health tools and devices. Ventilator, medicines and drugs to combat the spread of this global epidemic. There was also an impact on the food and energy security sector, as it became a threat to the legitimate right of the Syrian people to have a decent life.
