RN MEPs publish a "black book" on the European Union's vaccine strategy

2021-04-20T15:55:22.883Z

The 23 MEPs from Marine Le Pen's party see the delay in vaccination in France and Europe as proof of the “bankruptcy” of the European Union model.

Nine months after having vilified the European Union for its management of the health crisis, the MEPs from the National Assembly are reoffending. The 22 MEPs are signing a new “black book” this week, this time derogating from the vaccine strategy in Brussels. Over thirty pages, elected officials list what they denounce sometimes as failures, sometimes as the result

of the Union's

“neoliberal dogmatism”

, in the ordering and distribution of Covid-19 vaccines to Member States.

“Never, since its creation, had the European Union demonstrated its incompetence to such an extent,

attacked in the introduction the boss of the RN delegation to the European Parliament, Jérôme Rivière.

Of the half a million Europeans, including 100,000 French, who have lost their lives during this pandemic, how many have died since the start of the year due to the inability of the EU to produce itself, or simply to provide these vaccines in sufficient numbers? "

In the form of an indictment, illustrated by a dozen examples, elected officials want to prove that the delay accumulated by European states - France in the lead - in vaccination compared to China, the United States or the Kingdom United, mainly stems from the choice to have delegated management to the European Commission alone.

“It was not within his competence, by dogmatism, the States rushed to give it to him. And have provided proof by absurdity that their system does not work ”,

shouts Jérôme Rivière to

Le Figaro,

advocate for a nationalist solution.

The "black book" compares the timing of orders placed with the various laboratories with the European Union on the one hand, and the United Kingdom - which is no longer part of it - on the other.

It is because the United Kingdom

"freed itself from the technostructure of the EU",

that it was thus, according to the authors, able to conclude a deal

"106 days earlier with AstraZeneca, 114 days earlier with BioNTech-Pfizer and 176 days earlier with Valvena. ”

Elected officials also return to the "bankruptcy" of Remdesivir

,

accused of having cost nearly a billion euros to the European taxpayer. Produced by the Gilead laboratory, this drug against Covid-19 was ordered last October for 500,000 doses by the European Commission and at a price of 1970 euros per unit. While the conclusions of a report by the World Health Organization (WHO), already partly available at the time, ruled on the ineffectiveness of the treatment.

"If the person in charge of the WHO and the Gilead laboratory should have informed the EU of the disastrous results of the study, the Commission has also sinned heavily, by neglecting to inform itself",

condemn the authors.

If the first "black book" of the RN MEPs multiplied the arrows against the president of the committee, Ursula von der Leyen, this time it was the new European Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, appointed last February to the head of the European "task force" in charge of the production of vaccines which concentrates the banderillas.

"Before and after his appointment, it is a long litany of intoxication of which Thierry Breton is guilty",

targets the notebook before exhumming some of his statements welcoming the

"success"

of the European strategy as reassuring on the fact that the Union has

"already more than enough vaccines."

One year before the presidential election, this booklet intends to serve the company of credibility of Marine Le Pen, like providing the candidate with a battery of ammunition for the month of next January. Date on which Emmanuel Macron will take the head of the rotating presidency of the European Union.

“We underline that there are indeed two opposing visions,

notes Jérome Rivière.

The European vision of which Macron is the good student and which has failed. And that, pragmatic, of a Europe of nations supported by Marine Le Pen. ”
