Nine months after having vilified the European Union for its management of the health crisis, the MEPs from the National Assembly are reoffending. The 22 MEPs are signing a new “black book” this week, this time derogating from the vaccine strategy in Brussels. Over thirty pages, elected officials list what they denounce sometimes as failures, sometimes as the result
of the Union's
“neoliberal dogmatism”
, in the ordering and distribution of Covid-19 vaccines to Member States.
“Never, since its creation, had the European Union demonstrated its incompetence to such an extent,

In the form of an indictment, illustrated by a dozen examples, elected officials want to prove that the delay accumulated by European states - France in the lead - in vaccination compared to China, the United States or the Kingdom United, mainly stems from the choice to have delegated management to the European Commission alone.

Produced by the Gilead laboratory, this drug against Covid-19 was ordered last October for 500,000 doses by the European Commission and at a price of 1970 euros per unit. While the conclusions of a report by the World Health Organization (WHO), already partly available at the time, ruled on the ineffectiveness of the treatment.
"If the person in charge of the WHO and the Gilead laboratory should have informed the EU of the disastrous results of the study, the Commission has also sinned heavily, by neglecting to inform itself",

If the first "black book" of the RN MEPs multiplied the arrows against the president of the committee, Ursula von der Leyen, this time it was the new European Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, appointed last February to the head of the European "task force" in charge of the production of vaccines which concentrates the banderillas.
