The fact that Armin Laschet is candidate for Union chancellor has met with mixed reactions from Würmtaler CSU politicians.

Some would have preferred Markus Söder as a candidate and now expect an open race in the election.

Würmtal

- Armin Laschet's freestyle as Union Chancellor candidate met with skepticism from some Würmtal CSU members.

“I think it's a bit of a shame.

The basis was more for Söder, and his survey results were not bad nationwide, which is rather rare for a Bavarian, ”said Planegg's mayor Hermann Nafziger, assessing Laschet's freestyle.

A “decision was forced”, the CDU party presidium obviously “wanted to forbid outside interference, regardless of whether it was from the CSU or its own base,” says Nafziger, who asks himself: “What has happened since then Armin Laschet is party leader?

So far it was too thin for me. "

"Bundestag election has never been as open as it is now"

Nafziger therefore believes that the federal election “has never been as open as it is now” and thinks that there are also some “disappointed voices” in the Würmtal. The Planegger local association has recently focused primarily on Planegger issues and has not yet made a lot of planning for the election campaign. It is important to the mayor, however, that the general situation of shops and restaurants, for example, is discussed during the election campaign - and how it can "give people a perspective again".

"I regret the decision, even if I of course accept it," says Marianne Hellhuber, chairwoman of the Neurieder CSU local association and deputy district chairwoman of the CSU Munich-Land. Söder would have been “the better candidate” not only because of the better poll results, says Hellhuber, whose motto for the Bundestag election campaign is now “Sleeves up and fight”. "We are nevertheless optimistic about a good result and of course we will not be discouraged," says Hellhuber. The Neurieder local association will of course also campaign for Laschet, but have not yet made any concrete plans, but have only waited to see who will be the candidate. "If events are possible again, we would of course like to do them", but in any case a lot will take place digitally.

"Do not write off the SPD yet"

“Both candidates have their advantages and disadvantages, after all they are human beings,” says Hans Wechner, parliamentary group spokesman for the Kraillinger CSU. For example, it speaks for Laschet that he was able to win the SPD home state North Rhine-Westphalia for the CDU, says Wechner, but is also closer to Söder as a CSU member. The election campaign will be “now exciting, as always, a lot will be decided in the last few meters. I wouldn't write off the SPD either, ”says Wechner. Depending on how the general situation develops in the summer, the Union can still hope for a good result, believes the group spokesman. The Kraillinger local association will orientate itself in the election campaign, among other things, to what the state party specifies. In Wechner's opinion, however, important issues must be the development of Europe, the economic situation and the question of how the corona costs are paid.
