Shares of the Altria Group, formerly known as Philip Morris, plunged after The Wall Street Journal reported that the government is considering forcing companies to lower nicotine levels to non-addictive amounts.
According to the same media, Joe Biden's government is evaluating banning menthol cigarettes.
The White House has not issued any comment and the Food and Drug Administration declined to comment on the matter.
