Today, the Indian authorities announced that 22 people infected with the Coronavirus have died due to the depletion of oxygen in a hospital in the western state of Maharashtra.
"A leak occurred in the oxygen tank during the filling process, which led to the depletion of oxygen and the death of 22 patients in the hospital treating Corona patients," Reuters quoted Siraj Mandhari, an official in the city of Nashik, Maharashtra state.
India is witnessing a record high number of deaths from the virus, as it recorded 1,761 new deaths during the past twenty-four hours, bringing the total to 180,550 cases from between 15 million and 321 089 infections.
