Childcare places in Kirchdorf are becoming more expensive, but remain "close to the parents"

Kirchdorf -

For years the fees for childcare in Kirchdorf have not increased - but in September they will be increased slightly.

The request of the Greens, as a municipality, to think about a free day care center, also came up.

Since 2015, Kirchdorf has been adjusting the childcare fees based on the funding reduction. While this was still 1217.62 euros in 2019, it increases to 1235.77 euros for 2021 - which corresponds to an increase of 1.49 percent. The fees for lunch remain unchanged for the time being, according to the resolution proposal, and will have to be recalculated for the coming year due to increases in the cost of meals and staff.

At the latest municipal council meeting, Martin Heyne (Greens) asked how much the municipality would "shoot up" in the cost of childcare - and whether a free daycare place could be discussed in this regard. Mayor Uwe Gerlsbeck (CSU) made the calculation: a third of the costs would be paid for by the parents, the other two thirds by the state and the municipality. In his opinion, the amounts are very “close to parents”. How much, however, Kirchdorf had to spend financially on childcare, the city hall boss could not answer off the cuff. Managing director Florian Haider then looked in the 2020 budget: around 980,000 euros in costs contrasted with around 740,000 euros in income. In plain language:The municipality compensates for a deficit in childcare of a quarter of a million euros every year. But what exactly goes into this sum, for example various construction measures, Gerlsbeck could not say.

However, since the municipality is already compensating a very large amount, the Greens went along with the decision to make a small increase in terms of childcare.

What does the cost increase in September 2021 mean?

So far, parents have to pay 212.80 euros per month (for nine hours of care a day), in September it will then be 216 euros.

However, the 100 Euro kindergarten allowance has not yet been deducted from the Free State.

At the day nursery, the costs increase from the current EUR 438.70 (nine hours of care per day) to EUR 445.20.

The decision to increase costs by 1.49 percent was initiated with a dissenting vote.
