The Lattakia Agriculture Directorate has taken a set of precautionary and preventive measures to deal with desert locusts if they reach the governorate.
The head of the Prevention Department of the Lattakia Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Yasser Muhammad, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent today that investigation and combat teams have been formed at the governorate level and an operation room has been established to receive any contact to inform about the presence of individuals or swarms of locusts over the course of 24 hours, and 5 specialized control groups have also been formed. Supported with appropriate mechanisms.
He pointed out that 20 tractors and their sprinklers were also assigned to the four regions of the governorate with their work teams and fog diffusers loaded on 6 pickups and foggers.
5 shoulder-borne pesticides were prepared and the necessary water supply tanks were prepared, stressing the need to inform the Directorate of any sightings, if any.
