"Refuses to support the only solution to the political tangle that does not involve the elimination of the right": The

Likud fears that right-wing chairman Naftali Bennett is close to forming a government with chairman Yesh Atid MK Yair Lapid, and attacked him today (Wednesday) sharply.

The Likud said: "Out of an uncontrollable ambition to be prime minister at all costs, Bennett - with seven seats - is ready to run a left-wing government with a coalition of 50 left-wing MKs. That he did not sit under the torch and the left, and that a prime minister could not serve with seven seats because it is 'neither democratic nor moral'.

"Bennett's paralyzed left-wing government will collapse within a few months and lead to the dissolution of the Knesset and fifth general elections. It will not be able to withstand even one day international pressure against the settlement and IDF soldiers and the race for dangerous agreements with Iran.

It will not even be able to promote a single reform of the right.

"Bennett refuses to support the only solution to the political tangle that does not involve the elimination of the right: a quick referendum to elect the prime minister that does not involve the dissolution of the Knesset and other general elections. The prime minister he chooses can form a government immediately.

"If Bennett really wants a right-wing government he must immediately announce that he supports a referendum for the prime minister, and stop the negotiations he is having with Lapid to form a left-wing government."

According to closed talks, Bennett does object to the direct choice law.

He says in the same talks that the election of a prime minister without having a government in the Knesset that supports him will not solve the crisis, but will give excess power to whoever is elected.

As you may recall, yesterday Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also attacked Bennett and said things in a similar vein.
