The Agricultural Cooperative Bank and its branches in Sweida disbursed an amount of 800 million pounds to the farmers in Sweida for compensation for apple damage and support for the chickpea and lentil crops, since the start of the exchange operations on the 22nd of last March until this date.
The Director of the Agricultural Cooperative Bank in Sweida, Eng. Nassim Hudayfa, stated in a statement to the SANA Economic Bulletin that the exchange operations have included about 3,800 farmers so far and are continuing through the bank and its branches in the governorate according to lists of the names of farmers benefiting from compensation and support with distribution to the branches according to the geographical distribution of the beneficiaries.
Hudayfah pointed out that the total amounts allocated to compensate the damage and support exceed 2 billion pounds, and the necessary liquidity for it is available and includes about 15 thousand farmers from various regions of the province.
Apple compensation is disbursed for damages caused by weather conditions in the governorate during May of last year, while compensation for the chickpea and lentil crops for the last season is disbursed as part of the encouragement to increase the areas planted with the two crops.
