There is a possible link between the J&J vaccine and blood clots, but the benefits outweigh the risks, says regulator

The European Union drug regulatory agency said it found a possible link between the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine and rare blood clots, but stressed that the overall benefits of receiving the dose outweigh the risks.

Even so, the news raises another complication in the deployment of vaccination in Europe and deals a severe blow to the company, a week after its vaccine was suspended in the United States.

The US will recommend not traveling to 80% of the countries of the world

The State Department announced that it would begin updating its travel advisories to align them with those of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

This is a change that "will result in a significant increase in the number of countries at level 4: from not traveling to approximately 80% of the countries in the world."

"This does not imply a reevaluation of the current health situation in a given country, but rather reflects an adjustment in the State Department's travel notice system," the agency added in a press release.
