The Department of Health responded in writing to a question from Pakatan Rakyat Legislative Councilor Liang Meifen on the outreach plan for seasonal influenza vaccine.
The document pointed out that a total of 438 elementary schools, 697 kindergartens or child care centers participated in the free outreach program this year, and a total of 230,000 children were vaccinated.
In addition, there are 426 elementary schools, 674 kindergartens or child care centers participating in outreach programs for an additional fee.
In the 2019/20 quarters and 2020/21 quarters, the government purchased 40.8 million yuan and 93 million yuan of influenza vaccines. Among them, about 239,000 doses and 250,000 doses were used for "school outreach (free)", which is an increase this year. The purchase amounted to 11,000; 40% of the 250,000 doses, or 69,000 doses, were nasal sprays.
In addition, the school participates in the "Vaccine-funded school outreach (additional charge is available)".
The 100,000 additional doses of influenza vaccine purchased by the Department earlier will be supplied to participating public and private outreach teams or doctors, of which 11,000 doses will be nasal spray vaccines.
