The master's thesis of student Tamim Abed Farag, which was discussed today at Damascus University, focused on “the plastic dimensions of the place in contemporary Syrian photography” and included the experiences of the Syrian photographers who were affected by the place and showed the plastic dimensions of their paintings.

The student Tamim explained that the research included the researcher's scientific and practical experience and dealt with the mechanisms of the presence of the place in the painting and the emergence of the formative dimension of the painting in three ways through the presence of the direct physical place and the place as a traditional or folkloric formative dimension and the presence of the place with an abstract expressive and symbolic dimension.

Assistant Professor and Supervisor of the Thesis Dr.Youssef Al-Boushi drew to its most important results, which is that the pictorial painting draws its most important visual vocabulary from the characteristics of the place and presents them as plastic dimensions, and that the spatial plastic dimensions of the painting are linked to its spatial root through the eye or the visual memory stock or contemplation of exchange and imagination.

Prof. Dr. Ali Suleiman, a member of the Judging and Discussion Committee, confirmed that the student excelled in completing good scientific research in sound language and analysis and relied on important sources and spoke adequately and thoroughly about the plastic dimensions of the place and showed that collecting this large number of artists in this thesis can be kept for use in other research. Or an art book.

Student Tamim Abed Farag, born in Masyaf in 1969, holds a BA in Fine Arts and a Postgraduate Diploma, Department of Painting.
