Two people, a man and a woman in their fifties, died Thursday afternoon in Hirson (Aisne) hit by a technical train, according to firefighters.

The emergency services were called around 5:10 p.m., and could only note the death of the two pedestrians.
The accident occurred at the Hirson-Ecoles stop, a railway stop, on the Charleville-Mézières-Anor line.
According to the SNCF, the train which struck the two victims was a “
weeder
”
train
which was not working but which was returning to its place of employment.
The circumstances of the accident remain to be established.
Rail traffic will not resume Thursday evening and substitute taxis or buses have been set up for “
customers
”, specifies the SNCF. Traffic should resume normally tomorrow morning.
