Fifteen years in prison for rape after a 15-year run in Morocco

The court followed the requisitions of the attorney general, Philippe Lemoine. The man, now 67, has denied the facts throughout his trial which opened on Monday. In February 2006, he fled on the 4th day of his trial before the Assize Court of Finistère, before which he appeared free. He had prepared well for his flight, emptying his bank accounts a few days before his trial and buying a one-way plane ticket to Casablanca.

Accused of rape, attempted rape and sexual assault on his daughter and niece when they were between 4 and 11 years old, he was sentenced by default to thirteen years of criminal imprisonment. A warrant for his arrest had been issued. It was only several years after his flight that he was arrested in Morocco for acts of pedophilia, "

" in the kingdom. For these facts, he was sentenced in May 2013 to a 12-year prison term by a court in Casablanca before which he appeared as a journalist.

In this case, he had first of all maintained an intimate relationship with two young women employed as domestic workers, before asking them to meet with young girls of around ten, according to local media. A first complaint had been lodged by the grandmother of one of the victims, alerted by the statements of her granddaughter.
