When it comes to air travel, classics are once again among the most popular travel destinations for Germans this year:
Turkey, Greece and Spain
are therefore far ahead in terms of search queries. Turkey secured first place - even though the country has been one of the high-incidence areas of corona since the beginning of April. At the end of March, Skyscanner recorded an increase in searches for Whitsun by around 330 percent compared to the beginning of the month. The top 5 most wanted countries at Pentecost include Turkey, Greece, Spain, Italy and the USA.
But many Germans already seem to have their summer vacation in mind: In addition to inner-European travel destinations, there is increasing interest in destinations outside of Europe - the USA is the most sought after.
But also Thailand as well as Greece, Spain and Turkey come into question for many Germans for summer vacation.
But when it comes to bookings, Europe is still ahead.

Around the Whitsun holidays, the average prices for a return flight to the currently most popular European travel destinations - Spain, Turkey, Greece and Italy - are
up to 52 percent below the previous year's prices
.
In July, the average prices for a flight to these countries are also 34 percent cheaper than last year.
