The pass between Marcelo Longobardi and Jorge Lanata on Wednesday on radio Miter generated a strong controversy on social networks after the historic conductor of Cada Mañana spoke of "formatting Argentina in a more authoritarian way."
After the controversies and even a complaint he received from a Kirchnerist legislator, Longobardi came out to clarify his statements this Thursday.
"I showed up saying one thing and
I wanted to say the opposite and it went wrong.
Sometimes it happens to me, I'm not the best at speaking. I try to say what I think. I made the wrong connection and
said something that sounded so inappropriate that I felt very uncomfortable.
I wanted to say the opposite, "said the journalist at the start of his program.
"
I expressed
myself wrong, I was wrong in the terms in which I referred to something very complicated. I would like to discuss
democratic values,
" Longobardi acknowledged.
In addition, he told behind the scenes of his controversial sayings: "I was in a meeting with a group of colleagues, one mentions the fact to me and tells me: yesterday you were a trend, and I was not even aware of it. I ask him why and he tells me 'for your comment on authoritarian formats, and until the afternoon when Jorge Porta called me and told me what was happening, I was in anyone ".
On Tuesday morning, in a fiery dialogue, Longobardi and Lanata analyzed the situation of face-to-face classes in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA) and
the struggle between the national and Buenos Aires governments.
The journalists expressed that "
Argentina is screaming
" and that the discussions among public officials are taking place "in an exasperating tone", in relation to the debate on the return to virtuality decreed by President Alberto Fernández.
"This whole picture of the pandemic, which is very complex and is affecting people's health,
is aggravated by the way in which politics throws gasoline at this fire,"
Longobardi analyzed.
After referring to the "rebellion" for opening schools by Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, Longobardi expressed his "concern" about the levels of poverty and how this "short-circuits" democratic systems.
"Someday we will have a surprise, because
we are going to have to format Argentina in a more authoritarian way
to be able to handle such a disaster," he alarmed.
And he added: "Venezuela has not been the result of a sudden process. I said that you don't even need an autocrat, you need an idiot to wear it. Maduro is an idiot run by other guys. This does not mean that this is similar to what it is here.
Today you don't need a Chávez, you need an idiot. "
Given his statements, the Buenos Aires legislator from the Frente de Todos Victoria Montenegro filed a complaint with the Ombudsman's Office.
"At this point there are discussions that are already anachronistic. How can it be that those who have communication responsibility can argue that we must return to authoritarian times," questioned the deputy after her presentation to the body in charge of defending the right to democratic communication.
