President
Alberto Fernández
participated this Thursday in a virtual way in the
Summit of Leaders on Climate
convened by the United States, within the framework of International Mother Earth Day.
In his 4-minute speech, the president resorted to quotes from former President
Juan Domingo Perón
and
Pope Francis
to present Argentina's position on climate and environmental action.
"For this transition to be fair and begin with the last to reach everyone, we need to remember what our beloved Pope Francis used to say masterfully: 'the ecological crisis and the social crisis are two sides of the same problem,'" said Fernández.
During his presentation, the President affirmed that Argentina will shortly send to Congress a
bill for the environmental protection
of native forests, and specified that the country "has put climate and environmental action at the center of its convictions."
