To the horror of walkers and the mayor, in whose corridor this area is located.

  • A walker discovers the plastic waste in the forest between the landfill and Loisach - and is horrified.

  • The mayors from Ohlstadt and Riegsee are pressing for the immediate removal of the rubbish scattered in the protected area.

  • In order to avoid this problem in the future, the district wants to build a hall for reloading the garbage.

Ohlstadt -

yoghurt cups, foils and lots of other plastic waste - the forest between the Schwaiganger landfill and the Loisach is full of it.

“I couldn't believe my eyes,” says an Ammertaler who doesn't want to be named.

At a width of about one kilometer by the river and up the steep forest slope "it looks absolutely terrible".

While walking he discovered the unsightly condition - and was horrified.

"The stuff ends up in the Loisach and as microplastics in the forest floor, so we don't need to talk about the pollution of the oceans, we have that on site."

Garbage is in the nature reserve - "That's awesome."

The problem can be seen not only there, but also around the area from the garbage transfer station to the archery range. In addition to the walkers, the mayors are shocked by the environmental offense, and the plastic carpet can be found in their corridor. "That doesn't work at all," says Christian Scheuerer (non-party) from Ohlstadt. Also against the background that the plastic waste is lying around in the FFH and bird sanctuary. “In other words, in a very sensitive area.” His colleague Jörg Steinleitner (Riegsee Voting Association) can only agree with him: “That's awesome.” It is crucial for both that the garbage is disposed of as quickly as possible. Against the background that their communities are committed to waste prevention. “If we allowed that, we could forget our entire environmental policy,” emphasizes Scheuerer.

Garbage in nature: The problem is known in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district office

As the operator of the garbage transfer station, the district office assures you that they will provide a quick remedy. "We are aware of the deposits," says Stephan Scharf, spokesman for the authorities. "When loading, especially in strong winds and by hundreds of birds, plastic waste is regularly scattered in the surrounding landscape." The affected areas - according to him mainly on the left and right of the access road - are cleaned regularly by the employees. An extensive Ramadama is scheduled for now after the winter. “In the next step, the embankment area will follow up to the Loisach”, announced Scharf. Because of the steep terrain, this is usually only done once or twice a year. The unsightly side effects only occur in the area of the waste transfer station, not from the landfill, where only inert waste - i.e. excavated soil and earth, construction rubble or mineral construction waste - is installed. “At the reloading station, the district's residual waste from the household waste collection is reloaded,” explains Scharf, “from the collection vehicles into large containers.” In addition, the district citizens can here, among other things, bulky waste, scrap wood, scrap iron, electronic scrap, flat glass and lightweight packaging, i.e. material from yellow sacks or ton. "However, this is immediately fed to a press and is not the cause of the plastic lying around," emphasized the spokesman for the authorities.“In addition, the district citizens can hand in bulky waste, scrap wood, scrap iron, electronic scrap, flat glass and light packaging, i.e. material from yellow sacks or bins, among other things. Regardless of which garbage can the remains come from, it is crucial for Scheuerer that they are removed as quickly as possible.

Actually, the district should have made sure that such drifts did not occur a long time ago.

“Plastic waste just doesn't belong in the environment,” says the man from Ohlstadt.

Steinleitner also underlines this.

“We live here in paradise”, which is being deliberately destroyed as a result.

Halle should solve the garbage problem in the nature reserve

Both mayors support the news that a hall for the reloading of waste is to be built on the site this year.

“We have already approved this in the local council,” confirms Scheuerer.

Once this building is in place - "the tenders are in progress" - the loading activities will take place in a closed room in future, says Scharf.

"In this way, the area around the waste transfer station can be kept clean over the long term." As a precautionary measure, the entire area will also be cleaned again after the hall has been completed.

In the Fürstenfeldbruck district, more and more rubbish ends up in nature.

Such disposal of rubbish is no trivial offense.

And also during the corona pandemic, the garbage problem has increased in many excursion regions such as Walchensee.
