The Police Operations Department and the inter-departmental counter-terrorism task force held a joint counter-terrorism exercise in the J section of the Airport Terminal 1 late at night on the 22nd, simulating someone placing suspicious objects, taking hostages with a knife and attempting to make bomb attacks.

The police, fire service, correctional department, customs, immigration department and government flying service all sent staff to participate in the exercise, which lasted about one hour.

During the exercise, five people acted as terrorists. They were holding suitcases with unusual expressions. They were stopped by security at the airport. The explosives search dog detected that the luggage was suspected of explosives. The five people suddenly attacked and rushed into the airport. One of them took a sharp knife. After cutting passers-by and then taking people in the airport as hostages, the personnel of the disciplined forces then simulated how to defuse the crisis, subdue terrorists to rescue the hostages, and dismantle suspected explosive devices.
