When the longed-for call to confirm the appointment comes, Christa Bock is puzzled. She should come to the Ottobrunn vaccination center. But: There is no vaccination center in Ottobrunn. When Christa Bock is supposed to reveal her husband's ID number and unsuccessfully asks for the phone number of the dubious caller, she ends the call. "She was completely dissolved and feared that our vaccination appointment might be gone," says husband Manfred.
Of course, this is not the case.
The caller was a scam.
The latest trick: Calling people who want to be vaccinated to confirm the appointment and asking for personal data.
It's one of the downsides in the fight against the pandemic.

The buck didn't fall for the cheater. But they were doubly angry. Manfred Bock really needed an appointment as a volunteer supervisor in nursing homes. Instead, on the advice of the Ottobrunn community and the health department, he marched to the police. Although he did not file a complaint, "we were told that there was no direct damage," says Bock, but the couple has at least applied for a new identity card.
The couple Ulrike and Christoph Zeller fared similarly dubious.

The next day came another call, again with a login code.
That struck Christoph Zeller as "strange" and he wanted to have the appointment confirmed at the Aicher ambulance.
It quickly became apparent that "it was a fake call," reports Zeller.
The Aicher team assistant had confirmed that no one had called the couple, the telephone system had no data on this.
“So there was no appointment for us,” said Zeller.
District office advises reporting to the police
The district office confirmed that “such cases do occur.
We have also heard of phone calls stating that vaccination appointments are being sold for money, ”a spokeswoman for the district authority explains on request.
"We can only advise you to file a report with the police." Because private data would never be queried by phone, there would be no telephone confirmations anyway.

Four vaccination centers
There are four vaccination centers in the Munich district: in Haar, Oberhaching, Planegg and Unterschleißheim.
The central Bavarian registration portal BayIMCO (https://impfzentren.bayern) is available for registering and making appointments for the Covid 19 vaccination.
There you can register for the vaccination.
The registered persons with the current highest priority will then be invited by the vaccination center responsible for them to book a personal appointment via SMS or email.
Why do the scammers call?
One can only speculate about that.
"I could imagine that we should be lured out of the house," says Christoph Zeller.
Manfred Bock has a different assumption: "You keep hearing that fake personal data is used for criminal activities."
Vaccinations always free
In principle, the following applies: The corona vaccination is free for all citizens.
Even if the perpetrators express themselves skilfully and convey a guilty conscience, hang up immediately and notify the police in the case of vaccination or corona test offers that are associated with costs.
For Manfred Bock the story ended well in the end.
