The Corona year was anything but normal for the Miesbacher BRK readiness.

Nevertheless, or perhaps because of this, the volunteers were able to get even more young people interested in their work.

Miesbach

- The Corona crisis has also demanded a lot from the readiness of Miesbach of the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK). At the digital general meeting, the readiness looked back on the past months. There were few events at which the standby would have been active. According to a press release, the volunteers have spent "countless hours" preparing for the pandemic situation in order to be prepared at all times.

The operational list was varied: the spectrum ranges from supporting the rescue service in the event of fires and traffic accidents to the implementation of hygiene measures in facilities, evacuations and relocations to corona tests for visitors to retirement homes at Christmas.

Under the special conditions, the other standby life was severely restricted.

The training was limited to an "absolute minimum" and largely carried out digitally.

The on-call youth, which was founded in 2019, also had to accept restrictions.

Two years ago the Red Cross were on the road even more.

They visited a rescue helicopter and took part in a torchlight hike in Solferino, Italy, not far from Lake Garda.

Despite or because of the special circumstances, the willingness to increase the youth department is happy.

In addition, the volunteers look to the future with hope.

“The paramedics are cautiously flirting with participating in the torchlight hike in 2022,” says on-call manager Tobias Hammer.

In the course of the regular new election, Hammer was also confirmed in his office.

Manfred Edenhofer remains his deputy.

Florian Gottstein will take over the leadership of the Rapid Response Group in a tried and tested manner, while Johannes Köhler will remain in charge of tactical operations.

Magdalena Rüppel was newly accepted as the group leader of the on-call youth and Michael Zangenfeind as her deputy.

Dr.

Florian Meier and the brothers Dr.

Thomas and Dr.

Martin von Ahnen remain on-call doctors.

The organization is also looking for new, larger rooms because of the new on-call youth.
