While many at their age fall for the grandchildren trick, a senior citizen from Weyarn saw through the fraudster who called her at home.
Weyarn
- A 76-year-old from Weyarn rang the phone on Thursday, April 22nd at a quarter to eleven.
On the other end of the line, an unknown woman spoke who wanted to impersonate her granddaughter.
However, the person called was suspicious, hung up immediately and informed the police immediately.
The police give the following tips to identify phone fraud:
Be suspicious if callers do not answer by name on the phone.
Do not guess who is calling, but always ask callers to give their name themselves.
Be suspicious of people posing on the phone as relatives or acquaintances who you don't recognize as such.
Ask the caller about things that only the right relative / acquaintance can know.
Also, be careful if the callers pose as corona-infected grandchildren desperately in need of money for alleged expensive treatment.
If you find a call suspicious, notify the police immediately on 110.
