Frequent attacks
Attacks against American bases are recurrent in Iraq.
On March 3, at least ten rockets hit a base housing American soldiers in western Iraq.
They had killed a civilian subcontractor.
This attack came two days before Pope Francis' historic visit to the country.
On February 15, a coalition air base located at Erbil airport was targeted. Among the fourteen rockets fired, four had reached the air base where American troops are stationed, next to the civilian airport. A man, a civilian contractor, had been killed. Two more rockets fell on residential areas on the outskirts of town, 2 km from the airport.
