The 690 bus will be traveling between Neufahrn, Eching and the underground in Garching significantly more often from December onwards.
The retail sector could also benefit from this.
Neufahrn / Eching - The municipality of Eching had already given its consent, as did the Neufahrn / Eching utility association.
Now the decision of the Neufahrn municipal council was still missing to ensure an improved and expanded service on the 690 bus line from the 2021 timetable change, which connects the Eching and Neufahrn S-Bahn stations to the subway at the Garching research center.
As expected, the Neufahrner councils did not oppose themselves either, but voted unanimously for what they have been fighting for for years.
Now all that is missing is the approval of the district council.
Additional trips in the morning and evening hours
The innovations and changes that will apply from December 2021 are essentially as follows: A continuous 20-minute cycle will be introduced on the weekdays from Monday to Friday, and there will be additional trips in the morning and evening hours. On Saturdays, line 690 will in future run every 60 minutes, and more trips will be made in the evenings and mornings. And finally, on Sundays, line 690 should also run every hour between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The advantages of this new regulation: A continuous 20-minute cycle is easier to memorize and creates additional capacities, more employees in the industrial park can take advantage of the offer, and Saturday opening times of the retail trade in the industrial park are then also covered.
The costs: Both municipalities will each have to pay between 53,000 and 64,000 euros more per year.
In Eching, three stops are no longer available
So that the timetable can be adhered to in the future, the route must be changed, especially in Eching: The Heidestraße, Theresienstraße and Waagstraße stops are no longer used, the police stop is no longer available in Neufahrn.
There were no discussions in the Neufahrner municipal council: Matea Majstorovic (Greens) emphasized that her parliamentary group was "immensely" happy about the expanded offer, Burghard Rübenthal (CSU) spoke of new costs, which one had to keep an eye on in view of a tight budget situation, stressed at the same time that such a public transport concept had to be made “acceptable” for the citizens. The innovations and improvements achieved this, which is why it was "money well spent" in Rübenthal's eyes.
