Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny announced today (Friday) the end of his hunger strike after three weeks, after he said he had been visited by doctors he trusted.

"I do not want people to suffer physically because of me," read a post posted on his Instagram account.

On Wednesday, more than a thousand people were arrested across Russia, during demonstrations in support of the villain and in protest against the conditions of his imprisonment.

Navalny's associates warned he could die after three weeks of hunger strike, in which he began demanding more adequate medical treatment for the back and leg pain he suffers from.
