Minister of Internal Security Amir Ohana published a Facebook post today (Friday) in which he referred to the functioning of the police in the violent clashes in Jerusalem over the past five nights.

In a post he wrote, he wrote that "the events of the past week in which Arabs attack Jews with an ultra-Orthodox appearance and upload them to networks are carried out on a nationalist or racist background, and are not 'pranks'."

"The Jerusalem District Police is operating at maximum intensity and is reinforced by outside forces. Additional forces are expected to join the effort in the coming hours - all with the aim of reaching a maximum deployment to protect the safety and security of law-abiding residents," Ohana wrote.

"We will probably never reach a situation where there will be a policeman in every square meter, but the layout will be exceptional, and will focus on the areas of friction."

Later, the police repulsed dozens of right-wing activists who tried to reach the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.

The riots continued in various hotspots in the city after the main protest was dispersed, and at the Zacks junction demonstrators threw stones and burned tin.

Earlier, Lehavah activists marched toward the Nablus Gate, chanting "Death to the Arabs" and "Od Kahana Chai."

Many police forces were on the scene and divided the protesters, and according to the police, about 20 policemen were injured, three of whom needed to be evacuated.

Protesters from the far right occasionally tried to break through the fences, and some succeeded for a few moments until they were stopped.

After protesters threw bottles and stones at police in IDF Square, police ordered the protest to disperse, but right-wing activists continued to riot and attacked police - and three of them were arrested.
