After six weeks of closed-door trial, the Paris Assize Court on Sunday declared five of the 13 defendants guilty of attempted murder on police officers.

Three of them, sentenced to 18 years' imprisonment, appealed to the Supreme Court.

During the appeal trial which began on March 2, Frank Berton, lawyer for one of the young people sentenced to 18 years of imprisonment, seized the IGPN and plans to seize the Defender of Rights, he confirmed. to AFP. The report to the IGPN, sent on April 6 and received at the IGPN around April 16, relates to the behavior of a police officer in 2017, during the investigation carried out by the Departmental Security of Essonne, according to a source close to the case.

As it stands, the IGPN, which did not open an administrative investigation and did not have access to the procedure, “

sees it as a breach of the duty of courtesy according to the minutes of the hearing provided to the support by Me Berton

”, added the same source, specifying that“ in

accordance with the procedure

”, the IGPN had requested explanations from the Central Directorate of Public Security (DSCP). Explanations that the IGPN had not yet received on Friday.

Moreover, on March 11, Me Frédérick Petipermon, lawyer for one of the accused who is appealing in cassation, lodged a complaint in Evry against the investigators for "

forgery and use of forgery

".

Other defense lawyers have also expressed their intention to attack the investigators in court, announcing the filing of a complaint with the Evry prosecutor's office, which had not received anything Friday at midday.

According to the defense, the interrogations were poorly transcribed to the detriment of the defendants and the "

culprits were knowingly released

".

These criticisms made the Director General of the National Police Frédéric Veaux react, who defended the investigators he visited on Thursday. He was also surprised that these criticisms came five years after the fact. To those who criticize the choice to entrust this investigation to the departmental security of Essonne, Mr. Veaux replied that it was the prosecution that chose the investigative service. “

It was the right service because it has the means to carry out long-term investigations, knows this very delimited area very well with a fine knowledge of the bands. It was a local investigation so the Security had the profile

”, told AFP a judicial source.
