The Speaker of the People's Assembly, Hammouda Sabbagh, announced that the parliament had received two letters from the Supreme Constitutional Court, submitting Sinan Ahmed Al-Qassab and Muhammad Yusef Ramadan, two requests to the court to nominate themselves for the position of President of the Republic, bringing the number of applications submitted to 14.
The Speaker of the People’s Assembly stated in the sixth session of the second special session that based on the provisions of the Constitution of the Syrian Arab Republic, the Supreme Constitutional Court’s Law, the General Elections Law, its amendments and its executive instructions, the Supreme Constitutional Court’s letter No. 13 p. Sinan bin Ahmed Al-Qassab, nominated himself for the post of President of the Syrian Arab Republic, and the request was registered with the Council in the Special Registry.

The Speaker of the People's Assembly announced the opening of candidacy for the presidential elections, in implementation of the provisions of the constitution, starting from last Monday, and applications for candidacy will continue to be submitted to the Supreme Constitutional Court until the end of the official working hours from Wednesday April 28, 2021.
