The Hong Kong government actively encourages citizens to get the new crown vaccine. The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Chen Fan, stated in his blog today (24th) that after discussing with the Guangdong Provincial Government, starting in the early morning of yesterday (23), we will receive two injections for the 14th. Cross-border truck drivers no longer need to undergo nasopharyngeal swab sampling and testing during daily customs clearance. They only need to hold a valid test certificate within 72 hours.
According to the latest government data, about 98% (6,900) of active cross-border truck drivers have received the first dose of vaccine, and about 6,200 of them have received two doses. That is, the number of cross-border truck drivers who have completed two doses accounts for about 56% of the total.
As for cross-border land passenger transport and ferries, almost all drivers (about 1,600 people) and nearly 80% of ferry employees have given the first shot.
At present, about 20,000 cross-border trucks travel between the two places every day, transporting fruits and vegetables, livestock and daily necessities.

There are currently about 11,000 qualified cross-border truck drivers in Hong Kong, of which more than 7,000 are "active" drivers.
According to data from the authorities, as of the day before yesterday, about 6,900 cross-border drivers, that is, about 98% of active drivers, have received the first dose of vaccine; among them, nearly 90% (about 6,200 people) have received two doses of vaccine.
Chen Fan predicts that most active drivers will be vaccinated before the end of this month.
He also expected that with the increase in the vaccination rate of cross-border truck drivers and Hong Kong residents, the testing measures are expected to be relaxed in the future.
