China called on Australia to immediately withdraw its wrong decision to cancel cooperation agreements within the framework of the (Belt and Road) initiative and to stop imposing unjustified restrictions on normal cooperation and exchanges between the two countries.

"The Belt and Road Initiative is an initiative for international economic cooperation that follows the principle of intensive consultation, joint contribution and mutual benefits, and adheres to the spirit of openness, inclusiveness and transparency," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a press conference, adding that the Australian government used "in an unimaginable manner." It is reasonable to veto the Belt and Road Initiative cooperation agreements between the Victorian state government and China, and recklessly interfered with the normal exchange and cooperation between the two countries and severely damaged Sino-Australian relations and the mutual trust between the two countries.

He stressed that China is not satisfied with this and is firmly against it, and has made strong protests to the Australian side, and it reserves the right to do more reactions on this issue.

Wang stressed that the political manipulation and irrational behavior by the Australian side are completely inconsistent with the spirit of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Australia, calling on it to abandon the Cold War mentality and ideological bias, and to deal with Sino-Australian cooperation in an objective and reasonable manner and correct its mistakes promptly.

Canberra last year passed new laws directed against China.
