Corona rapid tests in Geretsried: Why are there only two contact points?

In Bad Tölz and Wolfratshausen, the corona rapid test stations are springing up like mushrooms.

In the largest city in the district, on the other hand, there is only one central point of contact and one pharmacy that carries out tests.

- If you want to go shopping in local retail, you have to get tested beforehand. This corona regulation has also been in effect in the district for a good week. In response to this, additional test stations were set up in Wolfratshausen, Bad Tölz and Lenggries almost overnight. In the largest city in the district, on the other hand, apart from medical practices, there is only one central point of contact and a pharmacy where free rapid tests are carried out.

The fact that there are different numbers of test options distributed across the district has to do with the fact that many were created on their own initiative or through the initiative of pharmacies, explains the spokeswoman for the district office, Marlis Peischer.

The possibility of testing in the tent on the Lenggrieser fairground and in a Christmas market stall on Tölzer Isarkai go back to pharmacies.

The four offers in Wolfratshausen are now supported by a volunteer initiative led by DLRG, Caritas and the Isar-Loisach Cultural Association.

District Office: "We are continuously working on further adapting the test capacities"

The district itself operates the test center on the Tölzer Flinthöhe and, together with the Red Cross (BRK), the center in the future Aldi branch on Geretsrieder Sudetenstrasse. There are currently no similar centers on the part of the authority, but the topic is constantly changing. “We are continuously working on further adapting the test capacities,” said Peischer.

This is confirmed by BRK division manager Philippe Goller, who is responsible for the test center in the south of Geretsried.

This week the opening times have been extended.

Anyone who wants to be tested can have a swab taken Monday to Saturday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. without an appointment.

In addition, from May there will also be the opportunity to do so in the evening - Mondays and Wednesdays from 5.30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The test center will also open on the holidays, May 1st, Ascension Day and Whit Monday, says Goller.

The Geretsried test center could be supplemented by decentralized solutions

2700 tests have been carried out on Sudetenstrasse since the end of March.

“The demand has increased continuously,” says the BRK division manager.

Not only would citizens come who want to go shopping, but also company employees or people who have to go abroad for work.

A second location for a test center in Geretsried is not under discussion.

“But we are planning decentralized solutions,” says Goller.

Pharmacies come to the centers in the district and carry out on-site tests.

There is no need for an extra commission from the health department, according to Peischer.

In order to give an overview, the district office inquired about the offers and created a list.

It will be updated on an ongoing basis.

"Of course there may be others who have not contacted us."

Pharmacy tests except on Wednesdays and in the emergency service

According to the district office's list, there is a pharmacy in Geretsried that is testing: the Paracelsus pharmacy on Egerlandstrasse.

The rush there is correspondingly large.

“It's stressful,” says branch manager Gitta Bäuerle.

Except on Wednesdays and in the emergency service, every weekday morning, every five minutes is canceled.

On average, 50 people come every day.

"More is almost impossible," says Bäuerle.

One employee tests, another issues the certificates, a third is constantly on the phone to make appointments.

When asked, the city refers to the two existing offers in Geretsried.

If a pharmacy is also interested in offering tests on its own premises, it can do so at any time, explains Thomas Loibl.

"If we as a city can support this, we will of course be happy to do so in coordination with the district office," said the city's press spokesman.

Interested operators of an additional test station have not yet approached the municipality.

Loibl: "However, this topic is still in constant flux"
