The Stuttgart Daimler Group is one of the most popular employers in Germany.

This is due to the image, the pay and nice employee discounts for cars with the star.

Stuttgart - Daimler is one of the most famous car brands in the world.

The German carmaker based in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim made a net profit of four billion euros in 2020 despite Corona.

That is a profit increase of 48 percent compared to the previous year.

The group paid its employees a corona bonus.

Because: "Without the hard work and dedication of the employees, Daimler would never have come out of the first wave of pandemics so well and successfully," said General Works Council Chairman Michael Brecht.

Daimler Germany: collective bargaining employees receive corona bonus

Around 300,000 people work at Daimler worldwide - from South Africa to Indonesia.

The car manufacturer has 178,000 employees in Germany alone.

The collective bargaining employees receive their wages in accordance with the IG Metall collective agreement - depending on the activity, state and company affiliation.

It all starts with apprenticeship wages of just under 1000 euros.

Long-term collective bargaining employees can earn more than 6,000 euros per month at the highest level according to the collective agreement.

In 2020, 160,000 collective bargaining employees received a

corona bonus of up to 1,000 euros

in addition to their salary

.

The group announces this on its homepage.

With the Corona bonus we want to thank all of our colleagues for their commitment.

In doing so, you have made a significant contribution to our success.

Michael Brecht Chairman of the General Works Council of Daimler AG

Daimler: 21.5 percent employee discount when buying a car

In addition, every employee receives a discount of 21.5 percent.

This discount always applies when employees buy a Mercedes and keep it for six months or more.

The company also attaches great importance to old-age provision and also offers a so-called T-Zug agreement.

Among other things, this grants employees eight additional vacation days that they can use to care for relatives.

This is a plus for many, especially in corona times.

But there is also criticism of Daimler's successful course: the share has more than doubled since the beginning of the Corona crisis.

Shareholders not only benefited from the rising share price, but also received a dividend of 1.35 euros per share.

The profit distribution for 2020 was 1.4 billion euros.

This decision met with criticism, after all, Daimler saved around 700 million euros across the group through short-time work benefits.

“Morally reprehensible”, thinks the advocacy group of the citizens' movement Finanzwende.

Daimler managers receive around one million euros

At Daimler, the salary classes are divided into different performance levels.

At the top there are around 100 managers who work directly below the board of directors.

This means, for example, plant managers.

It is estimated that they collect around 140,000 euros and a company car each year.

A manager on the extended board comes to one million euros - of which around 300,000 euros are a fixed salary.

The rest is accounted for by bonuses.

The CEO Ola Källenius, for example, pocketed 5.9 million euros in 2020.

There are also other payments - for retirement provisions, for example.

With his predecessor Dieter Zetsche, that totaled 42 million euros in the end.

Under the motto “Say on Pay”, shareholders have an EU-wide right to participate in the remuneration of managers.

The salary of Källenius is capped at a maximum of twelve million.

Salary classes at Daimler: From student trainees to development engineers

At Daimler, salaries are arranged according to performance class - they vary according to seniority and activity.

Working students, for example, receive a gross salary of EUR 12,500 per year, interns receive EUR 16,500.

Accountants get a little more with 39,000 euros and sales assistants with 42,800 euros gross.

Engineers in particular are in demand with the car manufacturer, they receive an average of around 82,000 euros.

Key account managers and team leaders scratch just under six figures with an average of 92,600 and 95,600 euros.

IT heads (112,900 euros) and managers earn over 100,000 euros with an average gross salary of just under 114.00 euros per year.
