Doubts about Astrezeneca, lack of Biontech, fear of Corona: the need for advice in medical practices is huge.

Dr.

Emil Rudolf and Dr.

Markus Marschall report.

Dorfen

- At first the Astrazeneca vaccine was not approved for seniors, in the meantime it was even stopped completely, then only people aged 60 and over should get it - and now Bavarian family doctors are allowed to inject the vaccine into patients of all age groups. "A catastrophic start," says the Dorfen general practitioner Dr. Emil Rudolf. Not medical - he absolutely recommends the corona vaccination with Astrazeneca as well. The communication of the decisions and the "exaggerated representation in the media" were more disastrous

.

"But that shows how well the German information and security system works," says Dr. Markus Marschall on this public back and forth. The Erdingen lung specialist and chairman of the medical district association also thinks a lot of Astrazeneca. the recommendations of the Standing Vaccination Commission are the expression of a well-founded consideration. The now so controversial Astrazeneca preparation is generally approved from the age of 18.

Even if the Bavarian Health Minister Klaus Holetschek has now approved Astrazeneca for all age groups, "we prefer to give it to people over 60," says Rudolf in view of the debate about cerebral vein thrombosis.

This side effect is very rare, according to Marschall, but occurs more frequently in younger patients than expected.

“The risk is very, very low, especially with men,” says Marschall.

“Personally, I wouldn't give it to a younger woman,” explains the doctor.

The bottom line is that Marschall and Rudolf agree.

"The best thing is simply a vaccination - over 60 no matter which one," explains the general practitioner from Dorfen who runs the Medical Care Center (MVZ) at the local hospital with other colleagues.

So far, only one colleague has expressed fundamental criticism about corona vaccinations, reports Marschall of the mood in the district association.

However, he considers the established temporal connection between deaths and vaccinations to be "technically unsound".

The corona vaccination campaign in doctors' offices has been running since April 1st.

Since then, according to the district office in the district, 6,847 vaccinations have been administered in this way, on Thursday there were 361.

At MVZ Dorfen, the long-awaited needle pricks were already there.

As a satellite of the Erding vaccination center, around 150 corona vaccinations per week were carried out at the MVZ, according to Rudolf.

The general practitioner and his colleagues can currently only dream of such numbers.

This week the Medical Care Center in Dorfen received twelve cans of Biontech vaccine and just as many from Astrazeneca, reports Rudolf.

Before that, there was also a delivery of 50 cans of Moderna.

“We actively called those at high risk.” In addition, there are a lot of patients in the practice anyway, so you can speak to someone directly.

“We try to vaccinate after prioritization,” says Rudolf.

But sometimes appointments are canceled at short notice, for example.

Then you may call younger patients who can come over quickly.

Or the MVZ calls on Facebook to spontaneously secure an appointment.

The last time there was such a call was on Tuesday.

In autumn there was still a lot of discussion about whether MRNA vaccines like the one from Biontech have an impact on the genome.

Now again the vector vaccine from Astrazeneca is heavily criticized.

"One as well as the other is wrong," explains the doctor from Dorfen.

The result: "I spend half of my time providing information about vaccinations." And that with a small number of available vaccine doses.

Whether this is economical for the MVZ is of secondary importance, says Rudolf.

"We have a social task there."

According to the MVZ boss, it is "highly admirable" how friendly and professional the medical assistants are.

You would be "at the front of the infection" and would get the increasingly bad mood of the patients off.

“One year this situation, it gnaws at everyone.

This tension then hits us. "

"The biggest drawback is that we don't know on Monday how much vaccine we will get on Tuesday," explains the general practitioner. Rudolf is convinced that this is due to the general shortage of vaccines and not due to excessive bureaucratization. Above all, however, he hopes that the vaccination for children and adolescents will come soon. But Marschall is convinced that the vaccination campaign will gain momentum overall. He knows: "There will be a lot more vaccine next week, namely Biontech."
