After a large fundraising campaign for the severely disabled Lena-Marie, many people were looking forward to this moment: The converted car with a wheelchair ramp for the Beigelbeck family from Schwabhausen is finally here.

This dream only came true because an incredible number of people in the district helped together.

Schwabhausen

- Somehow they can't quite believe their luck: after a long delay, the conversion of their car is finally finished. The Lena Marie bomber, as they call it, has been at home with the Beigelbeck Schwabhausen family for a good week. Features: LM for Lena-Marie, of course. She is the daughter of Yonne and Tobias Beigelbeck, seven years old and suffers from a very rare genetic defect. She is severely handicapped several times. Your life expectancy is - far too short. That's why their parents want to make the time they stay together as pleasant as possible. This required a car with an integrated wheelchair ramp. This dream has now come true. But only because a lot of people supported the Beigelbecks in a fundraising campaign.

The first trip in December with the new car was amazing. It was Lena-Marie's first trip in a car with a panoramic roof. "She couldn't stop laughing and kept talking to herself," says Papa Tobias. He is sure: “She explained to me exactly what she saw up there in the sky.” It was a good day, this freezing December morning with blue white skies and winter sun, when they got the car to be converted. Everything has been ready for a week.

A year ago, the Beigelbecks did something that was not easy for them - they publicly share their story on Facebook.

Because: Up to this point they had done everything on their own, but the young couple could not manage to buy a specially converted car with a wheelchair ramp on their own.

What happened next showed that you don't even have to do it on your own.

When the Dachau news found out about Lena-Marie's fate, they started a fundraising campaign together with the party band Ois Easy and the Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Dachau.

The response in the district was overwhelming: 45,000 euros were raised in the summer.

Now the Beigelbecks wanted to present the new car to their supporters. Martin Richter from Volksbank said during the tour: “It's great that you can see that so many people are getting involved. Although it is not much for the individuals who took part, the dream car is now there because so many have taken part. ”Helli Strasser from Ois Easy emphasizes:“ When it comes to important things, you can see: Our district helps together! ”The Beigelbecks are enthusiastic about the new car: “You can't imagine what a relief that is. It's a completely different attitude towards life, ”describes Yvonne Beigelbeck. Short mini-trips to recharge your batteries or a weekend trip to Leipzig to visit Tobias Beigelbeck's family - “It's finally possible again,” he says. The two have a hard timeto put into words how grateful they are for the support. "Without all of you this would not have been possible, we are so infinitely grateful to you," says mother Yvonne to the many supporters.

A lot has happened at Lena-Marie since the summer fundraiser. She is a school child now. “She loves school more than anything!” Says Yvonne Beigelbeck. Of course, she understands her daughter without words. “She is much more alert when she was there, laughs a lot more in the afternoons. She needs the other children around her. ”She currently loves it when her parents read her stories. "If she's still grinning at you with big eyes after three chapters, I know: I have to read on," says Yvonne Beigelbeck and laughs. Lena-Marie particularly likes the story of the little ghost.

Lena-Marie suffers from the very rare genetic defect D-bifunctional protein deficiency. This genetic defect explains Lena-Marie's poor eyesight, hearing loss, seizures, weakness of the core muscles, and constant mental decline. The seven-year-old can hardly move on her own anymore and needs help for everything. Only with her smile “she always enchants us”, says Mama Yvonne. This genetic defect also means that Lena-Marie should not be older than 13 years old. According to the doctors, "it has already reached its zenith," says Tobias Beigelbeck flatly. His wife interrupts him. "Schhhhhhhhht. Not now. "Then she looks at Lena-Marie and says:" Our daughter is a fighter. "
