Drinking water is becoming more expensive: That was decided by the Münsingen council.

At the meeting, the mayor explained the reasons for the price increase.

Münsing - The citizens of Münsing will have to dig deeper into their pockets for drinking water in the future.

At its meeting on Tuesday, the local council unanimously decided to raise the consumption fees from 1.63 euros per cubic meter by 31 cents to 1.94 euros / m³.

The last increase was five years ago.

Even the farmers among the local councils, Christine Mair from the Greens and Josef Strobl from the Münsing voter group, said the increase was moderate and appropriate.

A farmer needs about 30 times as much water as a common man because the cattle drink so much.

The community wants to invest in supply

According to Mayor Michael Grasl (Free Voters), the adjustment was necessary because of the high investments that have been made in the water supply.

Among other things, the community has new water pipes laid between Seeheim and Ambach.

There have been several burst pipes in the past on the old asbestos-cement pipes.

Affected is a stretch of 1.35 kilometers with 40 house connections between the confluence of Pfaffenkamer Straße and Seestraße in Seeheim to the Ambacher Kugelmühlbach.

Because the municipality is also having empty conduits laid for later broadband fiber optic cables, the costs amount to 731,000 euros.

Also interesting: the community center is being discussed controversially.

The taxpayers' association intervened and the town hall reacted.

We invest a lot in safe drinking water.

Therefore I consider the 1.94 euros to be a reasonable fee "

Mayor Michael Grasl

In addition, the construction of a new elevated tank in Weidenkam is planned to replace the two existing ones.

No costs have yet been stated for this.

The drinking water working group recommended the new building instead of renovation after looking at the aging structures and calculating both alternatives.

“We invest a lot in safe drinking water.

That is why I consider the 1.94 euros to be a reasonable fee, ”said Mayor Grasl.

The price is based on an advance calculation for the years 2021 to 2024, which the local authority Radlbeck from Straubing made for the municipality.

The basic fee for the water supply remains unchanged.

The new contribution and fee statutes will be issued retrospectively from January 1, 2021.
