The General Company for Cable Industry in Damascus achieved a profit of 6.772 billion liras during the first three months of this year.

The company’s general manager, Eng. Abdul Qadir Al-Qaddour, said in a statement to a SANA representative that the company's profits came as a result of marketing 1261 tons of various types of cables, valued at 24.593 billion, from the beginning of the year until last March, with an implementation rate of 75 percent and 202 percent of the sales plan.

Engineer Al-Qaddour stated that the company produced during the first quarter of this year 1121 tons of various types and measurements of cables valued at 22.796 billion pounds, by the implementation of the production plan in the quantity amounted to 76 percent.

Al-Qadour indicated that better numbers could have been achieved had it not been for the decline in the supply of quantities of raw materials as a result of the unilateral measures imposed on Syria, which led to difficulty in importing the necessary materials, especially aluminum and copper rods as the main material in cable manufacturing, revealing the agreement to supply quantities of raw materials that the company will arrive soon. This will positively affect the stability of the production process with the availability of sufficient quantities of plastic particles.

According to its director, the company seeks to develop its production capabilities and manufacture all types of low-tension cables with the latest specifications, including the installation of a medium-voltage insulated cable manufacturing line to dispense with its import with the expansion and development of the project to produce high-tension cables through the purchase of a new line in addition to establishing a plastic granule plant that provides production requirements. It reduces its costs and operation, in addition to studying the possibility of creating two plants for smelting and producing aluminum and copper rods instead of importing them, and reviving the optical cable industry project in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications.
