In the Dominican Republic, the consumption of adulterated or counterfeit beverages has left a trail of more than 100 deaths and 250 intoxicated so far this year, according to authorities.
The Ministry of Public Health has maintained an epidemiological alert since the beginning of April and asked the population to refrain from drinking illegally produced alcoholic beverages, since about 40% of the people who become intoxicated with these substances cannot survive.
