The clashes in East Jerusalem were lobbied, among other things, against the background of the Palestinian parliamentary elections that may take place on May 22.

A source close to Hamas wrote yesterday that the disturbances are proof that anyone who normalizes relations with Israel or maintains coordination with its security mechanisms will fall with it. In other words, the terrorist organization smelled Abu Mazen's attempt to evade elections with some excuse, and placed a gun on the table, this time also at Fatah.
