In a situation assessment that took place today (Saturday) at noon, the Chief of Staff instructed on a series of possible steps and responses and assessments for escalation.

In light of the expected events and developments, the Chief of Staff decided to postpone his trip to the United States at this stage.

The assessment was conducted with the participation of the Chief of the General Staff, Major General Aviv Kochavi and with the participation of the Deputy Chief of Staff, the Chief of the Operations Division, the Commander of the Southern Command, the Commander of the Home Front Command, the Intelligence Division and his representatives, the Air Force Commander "S., representatives of the Israel Police, the GSS and the National Security Council and other commanders.

36 rockets and shrapnel were fired last night (Friday) from the Gaza Strip towards the surrounding settlements during the night, and a red alert was sounded throughout the night and morning. At least 6 rockets were fired, and the rest fell in open spaces or on the roads, causing no casualties or actual damage. To remain in protected areas, but this morning (Saturday) the IDF ordered a return to routine.

"The alarm jumped our pulse"

Shahar Botbul, from Kibbutz Zikim in the south, told "Israel Today" about the difficult night.

"The first alarm was at 05:49 in the morning and as always she sliced through the silence and pastoralism of the quiet Kibbutz Zikim, and jumped us with a fast pulse, we ran to get the dog into the dimension while she pees scared of us and herself. After a few moments along with the whistle "From the Iron Dome came a powerful interception sound and calm again. We had not yet managed to catch our breath and close our eyes, and at 06:01 another alarm and another interception, which made us realize that there is no good reason to go back to sleep."

Botbol shared the hard feelings of the residents of the envelope this morning.

"Unfortunately we have been for a very long time without a real sense of security, after a night saturated with alarms and bombs on our envelope the political echelon makes a decision not to make a decision and leaves us at the front to guard the home front without any special instructions. So our Saturday morning started very early and unexpected at all. "A real pleasure on Shabbat."

Danny Rahamim, who has lived in Kibbutz Nahal Oz for 45 years, admits that he was surprised by the massive shooting last night at the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council.

"For a year or more we had quiet, except for small events. During the corona and before, life was back on track and there were no alarms or gunfire towards the area," he says.

"Tonight we woke up to some red alarms. Luckily we got used to it, and went straight into the protected space. I guess there were people who kept sleeping as usual and didn't even hear the alarms. Even though we knew there was calm and quiet, you always know inside that all that silence can change in an instant."

Gadi Yarkoni, head of the Eshkol Council, said this morning: "A sleepless night has passed over the residents of the envelope. As far as we know, the shooting was carried out in response to events taking place in the Jerusalem area and Palestinian internal parties. .

Yarkoni warned that a large part of the houses in the Eshkol Regional Council are still unprotected.

"As absurd as it sounds, after 20 years of firing, there are still houses in the cluster that do not have MMDs. Those settlements were not included in the Gaza Envelope protection project. These residents slept under missile attack tonight, without MMDs and vulnerable to injury. On such a tense day. I demand that the Israeli government put aside its political pursuits and focus on its citizens in the envelope that need immediate protection. "

The IDF attacked the Gaza Strip in response

Following the launches, the IDF attacked underground infrastructure of the Hamas terrorist organization, rocket launchers and other targets in the Gaza Strip during the night.

Earlier in the night, an IDF tank attacked a military post of the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip. Subsequently, at least two launches were identified from the Gaza Strip to Israeli territory. After the IDF attack, the organizations fired five more rockets, intercepting four Iron Dome systems.

Earlier last night, Palestinian terrorist organizations issued statements threatening to attack Israel in the wake of recent events in Jerusalem.

Terrorist organizations have accused Israel of harming the al-Aqsa Mosque.

The statement, issued by the Joint Situation Room of the terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip, read: "We call on the leaders of the occupation not to make a mistake. We see what is happening in our capital as a red line and its crossing will have dire consequences. The enemy will pay the most."

At the same time, riots broke out in several centers in Jerusalem and the territories of Judea and Samaria, in which an Israeli security guard was lightly wounded and a number of Palestinians were also injured by security forces.
