The Belarusian government agency (Belta) reported that Lukashenko indicated in an interview with reporters that the conspirators had planned to get rid of him in the procession of the May 9 celebrations, but given the difficulty in implementing such a plan in Belarus, "they abandoned it as a basic idea," pointing out that the attack was subsequently considered. Lukashenko indicated that this scenario also failed because the motorcade cars were traveling at high speed for security reasons and the possibility of injury is very low, explaining that according to the third scenario, the conspirators planned to attack his residence outside the capital with the aim of destroying the headquarters and millions of dollars were allocated for that.

The Belarusian president added, "We monitored this a long time ago," stressing that the operation that was carried out in the Russian capital, Moscow, to raid the conspirators was not random, but rather "they were tracked step by step."
