Today, the Armenian communities in Aleppo held masses and prayers in churches to commemorate the 106th anniversary of the genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire against the Armenian people.
A blood donation campaign was carried out in the hall of the Virgin Mary Armenian Orthodox Church in the Villat neighborhood, in which the heads of the Armenian Orthodox, Catholics, Protestants and the Armenian Consul in Aleppo participated in placing wreaths of flowers on the memorial to the martyrs of the Armenian genocide in the presence of a crowd of people.
In a statement to SANA's correspondent, Archbishop Masis Zuboyan, Archbishop of the Armenian Orthodox in Aleppo, said that the donation campaign is to remind the blood of the Armenian martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the Armenian people, adding, “We affirm today, after 106 years of adhering to our cause and defending it, and we tell the world that we are completing the march to recognize the Armenian genocide before. The Rev. Harutyun Selimian, head of the Armenian Protestant community in Aleppo, stated that the world remembers today the Armenian genocide that was carried out by the Ottoman authorities against the Armenian people, stressing the adherence to national values to confront the Turkish-Ottoman aggression against Syria.
Archbishop Boutros Marayati, Archbishop of the Armenian Catholics in Aleppo, referred to the unity of the Syrian-Armenian blood that the people of the homeland exert to protect it, adding: We are partners with our martyrs in sacrificing our blood and souls for the sake of Syria and its heroic army.
