The researcher in Arab culture affairs, Dr. Muhammad al-Hourani emphasized that the terrorist war that Syria was subjected to is a cultural and knowledge war in a large part, aimed at distorting our culture, values and principles, pointing out that our culture and our education are what made us stand up and face the toughest challenges.
In an interview with Sanna, Al-Hourani said: The response to the terrorist war against Syria is, in a fundamental part, by developing studies that reveal the falsity of Western allegations, expose the schemes, and enlighten future generations of the reality of what our nation has been exposed to and are still major challenges aimed at defeating them and eliminating everything that makes our societies strong and capable of Resilience in the face of the heaviest winds that it is exposed to on the other hand, some of these studies need to be developed by examining what is published by Western studies and research centers, which form the backbone of the war on our culture and our nation.
Al-Hourani added that the Western liberal conquest of our authentic Arab culture was not new to it and our Arab society, because the enemies repeatedly tried to undermine our culture and make it in line with their cultural and cognitive rhetoric.
Dr. Al-Hourani pointed out that with the increase in the wave of globalization, some intellectuals became mocking our heritage, our culture, and our original affiliation, that wave that tried to hybridize our culture and our thought, so the response from others was by calling for adherence to the principled constants and foundations upon which our culture was built, stressing that if we want to preserve this culture, we must First of all, he sent the illuminated ones, circulated them, and emphasized everything that would build the Arab society and make it more coherent and stable in the face of the attacks we are exposed to, and it is abundant in our culture and thought, but we must probe the depths of this culture and show the positive in it.
Regarding the consolidation of citizenship in society, Al-Hourani explained that when we succeed in involving everyone in the cultural, cognitive and educational act without discrimination between the spectrums of society, we can say that we have taken the first step towards establishing a culture of citizenship, and when cultural fragments and favoritism are not the main factor in any cultural or epistemological act, then we We have taken the most important step towards creating a renaissance cultural act based on respect for everyone and their participation in the cultural act establishing a culture of cognitive respect, then we can say that the founding of the community of citizenship has really begun away from any personal and personal accounts, and thus we are facing a society governed by the distinction of those with competencies rather than those with relationships.
The head of the Arab Writers Union pointed out the need to attract young people and make use of their energies and capabilities to block the way for those who want to use these energies and harness them in accordance with his plans and whims hostile to our nation.
According to Dr. Al-Hourani, the digital revolution has brought the people of our nation closer to the other, which aims to undermine it by children before others, stressing that these young people have been fuel for destroying the homelands, especially in the last ten years, calling on cultural, knowledge and educational institutions not to neglect their duties towards the sons of the nation’s generation.
Dr. Al-Hourani indicated that the Arab Writers Union, with its branches and associations, is one of the national cultural institutions that work to build national human knowledge and culture committed to the nation’s issues and adhering to its constants. This is a march and approach that we are proud of in the Arab Writers Union because that the resistance of national cultural action is the basis of work in the Union and we have tried to emphasize He must and strengthen it through the events, competitions and seminars that we hold in it, as well as through books and periodicals issued by him, and therefore there is a target segment in our work that is youth and children first because through them we can build a strong and solid human culture and it is a work that we cannot do without a real partnership with the two ministries of culture. And the media and some federations and trade unions concerned with this work.
Al-Hourani concluded by saying that supporting the national culture and embracing the youth is one of the fundamentals of work in the Arab Writers Union, rather it is the most important constant in our work because whoever wins the youth wins the future, and from here, the next stage will witness a remarkable interest in the youth category in terms of attracting them in cultural and literary activities and printing their works, as well as Work on the placement of those who deserve them to the Union of Arab Writers to be true partners in the renaissance cultural act of this institution, pointing out that there are many capabilities that our youth possesses that deserve to be embraced, supported and provided with a helping hand, which are capabilities that exist among young people in various places and regions, and we only have to search for them.
