In the wake of tensions with Iran, the SANA has released a photo of a tanker on fire off the coast of the northern city of Banias.
The oil tanker on fire off the coast of Syria
The official news agency Tasboriya, "Sana" reported tonight (Saturday) that an oil tanker was attacked near the shores of the city of Banias and began to catch fire.
The ship was reportedly attacked by an unmanned aircraft coming from the direction of the Lebanese border.
The agency did not accuse Israel of assault.
It was also reported that the ship, whose name was not released, made its way to the port of Hantes in the city of Banias.
It was further alleged that the fire was brought under control.
About two weeks ago, Iran attacked a partially Israeli-owned container ship in the waters of the Persian Gulf, after an intelligence ship of the Revolutionary Guards was attacked in the Red Sea.
