Juan Ayuso continues to amaze. The one from Jávea, considered at 18 years old as the great promise of Spanish cycling
, won the Giro de Romagna for the second day in a row, a Sub-23 category race in which he competes with riders up to five years older.
But the Spanish runner, who plays in the ranks of the Colpack on loan from UAE Emirates, once again showed his strength.
This time he had before him a stage at the top of the mountain.
And he did not fail: triumph to position himself as the new leader of the race.
With a fantastic final climb to the Castelo di San Leo, the fourth port of the day and of the first category,
the Spaniard set out to hunt the escaped Michele Corradini, whom he was able to catch up with. He did it with the British Paul Double, one of his rivals for the general.
Neither of the two, cyclists five years older, could follow the wheel of the Spanish phenomenon born in 2002. The triumph also served to put on the overall leader's jersey, with 21 "over Double and 31" over Francesco Romano, who commanded the classification until this Saturday.
Another exhibition of this rider who has already demonstrated his superiority in the junior category
and who has a long-term contract secured by one of the most powerful teams on the World Tour, the UAE Emirates of Joxean Fernández Matxin,
manager of the structure who has decidedly opted for him and that he plans to give him the alternative in the top flight this season
. At the moment, Ayuso is dedicated to making a difference in the U-23, where he has already added four victories, in addition to having already made an outstanding debut in the elite in the Coppi & Bartali, in which he finished 17th after being 5th and 6th in two stages.
